Townsville Businesswomen's Network Inc (ABN 71 724 803 011) (hereinafter referred to as "we", "us" or "our") is committed to privacy and has created this Policy in demonstration of our commitment. We may make changes to this Policy from time to time. We will publish these changes on our website.

Collecting Personal Information
We seek to collect personal information only if it is necessary in providing a quality service to our members and other persons acquiring products or services from us.

- When you apply for or renew your membership; and
- When you purchase tickets to attend one of our networking events;
As a general rule, we collect and maintain information about your name, business or employer, industry, address and contact details. We may from time to time collect and maintain information about particulars about the demographics of our members or their skills base and employment history.
We collect and hold this broad range of personal information in an effort to more accurately assess and better meet our members' needs. However, we strive at all times to ensure that we collect and hold only that personal information which is relevant and necessary.
When visiting our website, our web servers log visitor usage and record certain details for statistical purposes.
Purposes of Collection and Use of Personal Information
At the time of collection, we endeavour to tell you why we are collecting the information and how we plan to use it. We will only use information collected for the purpose disclosed at the time of collection or for related purposes which you would reasonably expected your information to be used. Before using the information for any other purpose, we would seek your consent.
We may also use your information to answer your inquiries, establish and maintain your membership with us. We may also use the information to:
- send newsletters to you;
- invite you to events hosted by us; and
- conduct member surveys.
To the extent that any of these purposes are not permitted by the Privacy Act, we will not use your personal information for these purposes unless you have first given us permission to do so. If you have given us permission to use your personal information, you may withdraw your permission by contacting us on the telephone number or addresses provided at the end of this Policy.
We do not sell your personal information. We will not share your personal information with third parties without your prior consent. However, it should be noted that as we are a networking organization, your membership information is available to other members through the member-only access section of our website. We do not have control over the uses to which your fellow members may put your member information.
We will not disclose information about you unless:
- the disclosure is required or authorised by law; or
- you have consented to our disclosing the information about you.
Quality and Accuracy of Personal Information
We aim to ensure that your personal information is accurate, complete and up to date. To assist us in this, you need to provide true, accurate, current and complete information about yourself as requested and properly update the information to us to keep it true, accurate, current and complete.
If you think that the information we hold about you is inaccurate or incomplete, please contact us on the telephone number or addresses provided at the end of this Policy and we will use all reasonable efforts to correct the information. Should we believe that the information we hold is not incorrect, we will take reasonable steps to add a statement to the information outlining that you believe the information is not accurate, complete or up-to-date.

We are committed to maintaining the security and confidentiality of the data you provide us and we will take all reasonable precautions to protect your personal information from unauthorised disclosure, use or alteration.
We have the following security measures in place to protect your information:
- our offices are also securely locked after hours;
- access to all member information only is password protected;
- our website is protected by a firewall; and
- our employees and office bearers are required to treat all personal information held by us as confidential information.
Accessing Your Personal Information
Under the Privacy Act, you have a limited right to access personal information that we hold about you. In some circumstances, we may refuse your request to access, in which case, we will give you a reason for that refusal. We are not required to provide access where:
- access is required or authorised by law; or
- providing access would be unlawful.
Please allow 28 days for your requests to be processed by us. In the interests of further protecting your privacy, we will require that you send verification with your request by enclosing a copy of official identification containing a photograph.
Ordinarily, we will not charge you for providing this information; however in the instances where we propose to charge a fee, we will contact you prior to providing this information and charging the proposed fee. We will never charge you simply for requesting information.
